Artist Bio
Hayley Theyers is a lens-based artist. She has had two solo shows at Black Asterisk gallery, "I too have been to Arcadia" (2016) and "In the dark we are without her Empress light" (2019).

She curated “The Lovers” at Black Asterisk in 2019, and more recently “Made” in Huia 2020, and has also participated in many other group shows including “The Art of Death” at Highwic House in 2019, and her most recent show “Communicating Vessels”, shown at Photospace Gallery in May 2021.

Theyers is also known for her portraits for Phantom Billstickers' Musicians of Aotearoa poster series, which were displayed around the country during New Zealand Music Month 2017-19.

Supporting Pet Refuge is of particular importance to Theyers: "Growing up in a family with domestic violence, we often spent time in the Womens Refuge, but always went back home, and one reason was that our pets were still there. Had there been a Pet Refuge things might perhaps have been different."

The Artwork
"My chosen image #glamourpuss strikes the eye like an icon, yet is turning away from us, symbolising love, and loss."
